Then you exit your decorate house tab and your favorite sim will be in a random spot in your house.
This will bring up your decorate house tab. (It would help if they had similar interests to you) And hopefully, they'll stay and HANG OUT! A way to keep them in your house is quickly click the decorate house button. Note: If you want your favourite Sims to visit your home, add a boutique dresser/costume chest into your home.
